Not less than eight lawmakers out of the 24 members of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly have refused to decamp from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This came barely 48 hours after the news of the state governor; David Umahi dumped the Peoples Democratic party to APC. It was gathered that Governor Umahi perfected his decamping plan with some stakeholders of the ruling All Progressives Congress in Abuja.

Similarly, Daily Trust gathered that Governor Umahi has held series of meetings at his home town in Uburu, Ohazara Local Government Area of the state with some Stakeholders. Although many have expressed their willingness to join him in the decamping train.

But his meeting with members of the state house of Assembly ended in deadlock. The meeting which was targeted at pacifying the 24 members of the state house of Assembly to join suit was held in Uburu, yesterday home town of governor Umahi. Our Correspondent however gathered that 8 lawmakers among the 24 refused to endorse their signatures in the defection list.

However, the position of the eight lawmakers has put the governor in state of deliama as the speaker of the state house of Assembly has reconvene a fresh meeting targeted at pacifying his colleagues to join suit. The meeting was held at the official resident of the speaker, Francis Nwafuru, on Sunday evening.

However, the morning is still ongoing at the time (7:50pm) of filling in this report. Correspondents outside the venue of the meeting observed that some of the members left in anger. But the decamping plot by the state governor has become a reality, although Umahi would at any moment make it public. Daily Trust
