Diri offers late PDP women leader’s children jobs

Gov Douye DiriThe Bayelsa State Government has announced the offer of scholarship and civil service employment to four children of the late women leader of the Peoples Democratic Party in the Ogbia Local Government Area of the state, Gloria Igbeta.

Diri, who made the pronouncement during the funeral service of Igbeta at Otuasega community in the local council area on Saturday, described her as “a woman of integrity and strong principles.”

The deceased politician was among nine persons who lost their lives in a road accident in Yenagoa on December 4, 2021.

Diri noted that Igbeta was a committed member of the PDP and worked for the success of the party in the face of temptation to renege on her principles.

He urged people to emulate her stable character which endeared her to many as attested to by the number of people that came to pay their last respects.

He said, “In recognition of the role she has played and the support she gave to the party and government till the last days of her life, the prosperity government will undertake the training of her two children that are still in school.

“I also learnt that two of her children are engineers. As a state in need of professional engineers, I hereby direct the Head of Service to give automatic employment to them.”

In his remarks, the late PDP women leader’s brother, Christian Igbeta, thanked the governor and the party for their support to the bereaved family.
