Alexander Pope, the English poet and satirist once wrote, “For forms of government, let fools contend, what is administered best is best.”

This goes to show that it is not contending for political position that matters most but what you do with it.

Recently, Isuikwuato/Umunneochi federal constituency in Abia state has been in the cards with the entrance in the scene of Dr. Onyinye Kay Rufus- OBI, a quintessential go getter and vibrant visionary.

Initially it did not create that frenzy until analysts began to throw searchlight on her capacity for delivery, selflessness and burning desire to change the welfare of her constituents.

Without prevarication, the incumbent legislator representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi constituency, Nkeiru Chidubem Onyejeocha is an active member of the House of Representatives. She has been there since 2007 and has done four terms already.

Judging that the constituency has great sons and daughters that can make strategic difference in the lives of the people, analysts are miffed at the sit tight tendency of the incumbent and why she has not considered it necessary to give way for others to contribute their own quota in transforming the constituency.

Besides, analysts believe that having been in the House of Reps for 15 years, the constituency cannot boast much of federal presence while Isuikwuato has merely been used by Onyejeocha as a canon fodder to rise to prominence only to be dispensed with as soon as the election is over.

A look at Isuikwuato will show that most of the projects there are carried out by the communities themselves and this creates revulsion naturally.

In all these, Isuikwuato has remained a tissue paper, used and thrown away by politicians who believe that settling a few individuals will give them access to votes while the people are left at the end of the day to carry the can.

This is why the coming of Dr Onyinye Kay Rufus – OBI into the scene, after much persuasion is creating such brouhaha especially because of her sagacity and political craftsmanship.

Recently a group of constituents were seen discussing it and one could not help but observe the excitement with which they talked about her as special delivery, and right political material for salvaging an already marginalized constituency.

One of them was heard saying that it is about time for change and a “Daniel has come to judgement,” referring to one of Shakespeares ‘Tragedy.’

In the said discussion, one could glean a few things. Dr Onyinye Kay Rufus- OBI is God sent and is coming at the right time.

Onyejeocha has overstayed at the House and should give way for others with brighter ideas to change the welfare of the people.

Nobody can do it better at this time than Dr Onyinye Kay Rufus-OBI because of her array of network and capacity to deliver.

No matter the political platform she uses, the people of Isuikwuato should see this as a great opportunity to vote their own and bring the needed change to the local government.

The old saying still stands that opportunity once lost cannever be regained.

Dr Onyinye Kay  is the daughter of Rufus Obi, a well known figure who was among the front liners in the move for the creation of Abia state.

Rufus Obi, was a towering figure and a selfless personality whose achievements in the state rings volume many years after his demise.

Onyinye without doubt took after the father. Any wonder that her chieftaincy title reads ‘Omekannaya 1,’ a tag that does not come cheap.

Dr Onyinye in one of her recent speeches disclosed “For three years running I put our roads and projects in the budget to mention a few.

“My late father, a renowned Pharmacist, Fellow of the Pharmaceutical society of Great Britain and Fellow Pharmaceutical society of Nigeria hosted the inaugural meeting for the creation of Abia state and was one of the 2 people that first contributed N500,000 for the creation of Abia state university and he also contributed for the construction of the IMO State airport
