NAIRA NOTES 2The federal monthly allocation for the 20 Local Government councils’ administration in Ogun State fell by 0.23 per cent or N1.08b in the month of September.

The Local Government councils in Ogun State received N3.61bn, which includes shares of statutory allocation, Value Added Tax and exchange gain from the Federal Allocation for the month of September, 2022.

This figure dropped significantly from what the 20 Local Government councils received in the previous month.

According to the data from Account Allocation Committee meeting, which was made available to The Punch, the 20 councils received N4.69b for August, 2022 allocation.

Speaking on the depreciation, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, said the sharp drop in the month’s allocation would not affect the statutory payments of the councils.

He implored council chairmen to intensify efforts at increasing their Internally Generated Revenue in their respective Local Government to ameliorate any shortfall that may arise from the Federal Allocation, in order to provide more democratic dividends at the grassroots.
