A press statement issued by the Planning Committee said all arrangements have been concluded for a hitch-free event, which would have the Minister of Transportation, Muazu Jaji Sambo as the chief guest of honour.

Other very important personalities and doyens of the nation’s maritime industry expected include but not limited to the Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Mohammed Bello-Koko, Director General NIMASA, Dr. Bashir Jamoh, former Executive Secretary of Nigerian Shippers Council, Barrister Hassan Bello, Sifax Boss, Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, Mrs Chiazor Anishere (SAN) and Princess Vicky Haaastrup.

According to the statement, the key note address will be delivered by former managing director of NPA, Chief Adebayo Sarunmi.

It noted that the Conference with the theme: ‘16 Years of Port Concession: The Pains and The Gains’ would provide ample opportunity for notable maritime experts and professionals to speak on and proffer solutions to critical issues affecting the port since 2006.

“While the Minister of transport has indicated interest to be part of the event, all the maritime agencies, including, NPA, NIMASA, National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Nigeria Shippers Council (NSC) among others have equally expressed their desire to be fully involved in the one day anniversary and awards.

“The 34th anniversary and Awards 2022 of MARAN is expected to be attended by over 250 maritime industry professionals; cutting across the maritime agencies, terminal operators, security agencies, international and domestic companies operating in Nigeria.” The statement noted.

Meanwhile, the Chairman Planning Committee, Dapo Olawuni in a statement last week noted that MARAN Awards come once in a decade and the last edition was held in December 2013.
