As the primaries to nominate candidates to represent the parties at the 2024 governorship election fast approaches, Edo State Labour Party executives were highly elated recently at the presentation made by Paul Agbonze Obazele at the state party office.
Obazele, a Nollywood icon has shifted atmospheres since he joined the race, making him not just one of the frontline contenders but a major force likely to claim the coveted seat.
The governorship aspirant who did not need any introduction when he joined the race because of his popularity rating, dazzled the Exco by highlighting the areas Edo State is distressed as well as a detailed blueprint on how to turn the socio-economic activities of the state into a global standard.
Paul Obazele, a 1986 graduate of Auchi Polytechnic and Lagos Business School is from Okhuesan Esan South East local government of the State.
A leader per-excellence, the Nollywood star is a two-time President of the Association of Movie Producers, he is the Founding President of Legends of Nollywood, and the Current President, of the Edo Film Makers Association.
The Edo State Chairman of Labour Party, Comrade Kelly Agbaloi said the party needed a candidate that could bring the state to an enviable height and believes the candidacy of Paul Obazele has the magic wand.
The Labour Party executives were stunned by the multitude who thronged the venue upon knowing that the Nollywood star was present, besieging the Secretariat and chanting “Paul Obazele naim we want as our governor”.
Obazele, a born orator and acclaimed go-getter gave hope to the crowd by charging them to take their future into their hands as the time has finally come, “so that we all can be proud to say we are Edolites”.
He lamented the plight of Edo State where with so many natural and human resources, the citizens are still subjected to dehumanization but assured them that he would not only utilize Edo State allocations to better their lot but also attract quality investors if elected governor.
He stated boldly that he is not deterred by rumours of a plan to turn the Labour Party into a circus of sharing money, but rather stands on the principle of good governance and the right choice of the people which he believes favours him more.
Encouraged by his mission and vision of practicable transformation, the state executives of the Party prayed for him and charged him to make that difference if eventually given the ticket as the gubernatorial candidate of the party.
