No 2nd term for council chairmen in Ebonyi – APC boss, Emegha

The Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ebonyi State, Stanley Okoro Emegha, on Friday, said there will be no second tenure for the council chairmen of the thirteen LGAs in the state.

Emegha warned council chairmen not to think of second terms in office but be preoccupied with how to ensure the APC wins in the forthcoming Ebonyi south senatorial bye-election scheduled to be held 3rd February 2024.

The APC Chairman, Emegha said this while addressing party members at a meeting with stakeholders of the Ebonyi South senatorial zone.

He tasked all Party leaders and political appointees of the Ebonyi government, who are from the southern senatorial zone of the state to ensure that the party wins in their various wards.

Emegha warned that any political appointee or party leader that loses his or her Ward to the opposition party in the forthcoming Ebonyi south senatorial bye-election, may lose their position or appointment in the state.

“There are certain decisions that the Party has taken and we can’t stamp on it unless it is made known to the leaders. Those things are that anybody who is a serving council chairman should not come near or think of a second term in office.

“Whether APC will win the forthcoming Ebonyi south senatorial bye-election, is a sure deal. But we must see the efforts of the serving council chairmen before any of them talk about that.

“We must see the efforts of the councillors before any of them thinks of running again. And all the political appointees of the state government, we are watching them. Any political appointment that fails to win his/her ward very convincingly at least 80 percent, should expect that that position may be taken away from him or her.

“You should know that the governor, Francis Nwifuru has the right to dissolve his cabinet within two months, six months even in one or two days. And as such, every stakeholder (s) should be very serious about delivering their political wards to the senatorial candidate of the APC, Prof. Anthony Okorie Ani, come 3rd February 2024,” he stressed.
