Tinubu appoints Rector for Nasarawa poly

Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa logoPresident Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr Samuel James as the acting Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa, pending the appointment of a substantive Rector.

This was contained in a letter dated January 23, 2024 and signed by the Director, Polytechnic Education and Allied Institutions Department of the Federal Ministry of Education, Dr A.U. Ejeh, and transmitted to the Registrar of the Polytechnic, Dr Munir Ahmad.

Speaking on the development in the Nasarawa Local Government Area of Nasarawa State on Friday, the acting Director of Information and Publicity of the institution, Safina Sabo, said Dr James’ appointment as acting Rector followed the expiration of the tenure of the previous Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr Abdullahi Alhassan.

She said, “The Polytechnic’s former Deputy Rector, Academics, Dr Samuel James, has been appointed as acting Rector pending the appointment of a substantive Rector.

“The Federal Ministry of Education appointed the new Acting Rector for the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, following the expiration of the tenure of the previous Rector, Dr Abdullahi Alhassan.

“Dr James who was the most senior officer when the five-year single tenure of the former Rector expired on December 31, 2023 had been appointed by the management of the institution on January 2, 2024 as the Overseer of the institution till his recent appointment by the Federal Ministry of Education.”

Reacting, the new Acting Rector, thanked God and the Federal Ministry of Education for the opportunity to serve, and pledged to work closely with the management and staff of the Polytechnic to achieve important goals for the institution.
