Cult killing: ABSU VC charges security team to flush out culprits

Vice Chancellor of Abia State University, Uturu, Professor Maxwell Ogbulu has charged the joint security within the school to flush out every form of cult groups from their hideouts.

He has also charged the security team to arrest and bring the suspected killers of a student of the institution to book.

The Vice-Chancellor stated this while reacting to the killing of a student of the university last week during a clash between two rival cult groups near a private lodge located along ABSU-Isuikwuato Road.

Ogbulu said that his administration has since inception maintained zero tolerance for any form of cultism and assured the students and staff of the university of their safety.

He commended the Nigerian Army, the Police, the ABSU security personnel and the Senate Security Committee for their joint efforts and also thanked Governor Alex Otti for instantly deploying more security officers to ensure peace and security within the university community.

Also speaking on the matter, the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of the university, Lt Commander ThankGod Evurulobi said that the Police has swung into action towards apprehending the suspected killers of the student.

He condoled the parents of the slain student but advised other parents to always guide their children against keeping bad friends and to also know where their children lived.

He said doing so would help guide the students against digressing from the primary reason they came to the school, which is to study.
