Many Nigerians are excited at the level of performance and the intellectual sagacity displayed by the Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti at the recent lecture he delivered over the weekend at the famous John Hopkins University, in far away United States of America.

Dr Otti spoke at Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Affairs (SAIS), JHU Bloomberg Center – Theater555 Pennsylvania Ave., NW Washington, DC 20001 on the topic: “State Governance and Economic Transitions: Meeting the Challenges.”

John Hopkins founded in 1876 is America’s first research university, and home to nine world class academic divisions working together as one.

Since Dr Otti gave the lecture, the social media platform X formerly known as Twitter, has been agog with so many Nigerians doffing their cap for this first class Economist and ex- banker who has changed the narrative in the Nigeria political space within a short period of time.

Dr Otti had humbly written, “I had the pleasure of participating in a business event in Maryland, United States, centred on the theme of “Empowering Economic Opportunities between the US and Nigeria.” It was an honour to engage with the business community of Maryland, alongside the visionary County Council members of Bowie City and Prince George’s Town, Roxy Ndebumadu, and Wala Blegay .

” I would like to express my gratitude to Dr. Charles Olawale for hosting this important summit. It is imperative that we continue to cultivate relationships and establish networks that will elevate Abia State and Nigeria to unprecedented levels of economic prosperity.”

The responses were electric.

Clinton Nelson wrote, “Such business events will attract investments and promote economic development of Abia state and Nigeria at large.”

A man simply known as Anyi wrote, “The key here is Abia State, not other states in Nigeria and the national government, but there is an extent to which Abia can go in all this. The larger nation still needs to complement what Abia is doing, but if not, then he can do only much.”

Another man with the tag, Cruisewithatuekong, said, “You’re doing well Mr Governor.”

Ikechukwu Kingsley, responded, “You’re doing a great job making sure Abia state top every state in Nigeria.

I wish all the states will have governors like you.”

Ogochukwu Favourwritz noted, “These are the kind of Intellectuals who are ready to work that we need in Nigeria.”

Mr Naz replied Ogochukwu, “It’s garbage in garbage out. u can’t expect so much from someone who doesn’t have what it takes to lead.”

Ifeyinwa wrote, “What an inspiring event! Your participation underscores the importance of fostering connections between nations and communities for mutual benefit. Kudos to Dr. Charles Olawale for spearheading such a crucial summit. It’s evident that initiatives like this are vital for propelling Abia State and Nigeria towards greater economic prosperity. This experience highlights the pressing need for a youth empowerment program in our state, ensuring that our future leaders are equipped with the tools and opportunities to thrive in the global economy.

A man with the tag Boss Boss had a different thing in mind., “Sir I knee down dey beg U????and I beg U in the name of God, recover every penny this man called Okezie Ikpeazu has stolen from d people of Abia state do everything in ur power to do that.thank God u don’t have any Godfather, the people are ur godfather. #Recoverback.

Another respondent with the handle, GreatGod wrote, “It will be good to keep tracks of the fruits of these engagements for posterity. Abia State is now the shining light of good governance in Nigeria.

Most politicians travel abroad for the show of it. Well meaning Nigerians will challenge their reps and leaders w/Abia Case Study.”

Johnswiss_official wrote, “The working governor I know before you step to that state there must be something good to attract to Abia state and Nigeria ????????. We always want to support you build a greater Abia state.”
