A former Special Adviser to ex-Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, Hon. Nnaemeka Godsprince Obi, has congratulated former Chief of Army Staff, Azubike Ihejirika, on the occasion of his 70th birthday, describing him as “a towering symbol of discipline, patriotism and purposeful leadership.”
In a goodwill message issued on Thursday, Hon. Obi, who like Ihejirika hails from Abia North Senatorial District, said the retired lieutenant general remains one of the most distinguished sons of the zone and a shining example of excellence in national service.
Ihejirika, who rose to become Chief of Army Staff in the Nigerian Army, was praised for what Hon. Obi called “a career defined by courage under pressure, strategic brilliance, and unflinching loyalty to the Nigerian state.”
According to him, Abia North takes immense pride in Ihejirika’s accomplishments, noting that his ascent to the peak of Nigeria’s military hierarchy was not only a personal triumph but a collective honour for the people of the region.
“General Ihejirika represents the finest virtues of our people: resilience, discipline, integrity, and service above self. At 70, his life stands as a living testimony that leadership anchored on principle leaves a lasting imprint,” Obi said.
The former aide to Okezie Ikpeazu added that beyond his national exploits, Ihejirika has continued to contribute to conversations around security, stability, and development in Abia State and Nigeria at large.
He described the retired general as “an elder statesman whose voice carries weight, whose counsel commands respect, and whose experience remains invaluable in these challenging times.”
Hon. Obi further urged younger generations in Abia North and across the state to draw inspiration from Ihejirika’s life of discipline and sacrifice.
“As a proud son of Abia North, I join family, friends, and well-wishers across the country to celebrate a man who has given his best years to the service of our nation. May God grant him continued strength, sound health, and many more years of impactful contributions,” he stated.
Lieutenant Gene, ral Ihejirika clocked 70 on February 13, 2026, drawing tributes from political leaders, associates, and admirers within and beyond Abia State.
