PDP convention: Stay away from Ibadan – Wike’s faction warns members

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, faction loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT)l, Nyesom Wike, has warned members across the country to boycott the planned national convention in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The faction insisted that a new court order had invalidated the process. This comes against the backdrop of a suit filed by former Jigawa State governor Sule Lamido, which produced a court pronouncement that the Wike bloc says has introduced fresh legal uncertainty over the convention.

Speaking to Vanguard, the Acting National Youth Leader of the faction, Timothy Osadolor, stated that the party cannot legitimately proceed with the Ibadan gathering until its internal disputes are resolved and stakeholders agree on the next steps.

“Well, I’ve told you before. What they are doing in Ibadan is just an early Christmas party. But again, even the early Christmas parties are still not going to hold,” he said.

According to him, the ruling secured earlier on Tuesday further discredited the event.

“I’m sure you are aware of the court pronouncements from the suit filed by former governor Sule Lamido earlier today. That has also told them that the early Christmas party is not even properly constituted and organised,” he added.

The PDP youth leader urged party members nationwide not to risk travel or spend money attending an exercise he insisted has no legal or organisational foundation.

We must kick against episodic governance in Nigeria – SDP’s Adebayo tells ACF

Former presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Prince Adewole Adebayo, has said that all hands must be on deck to kick against episodic governance in Nigeria.

Adebayo said there is no reverse gear in the vehicle of nationhood.

He made the statement on Tuesday during a visit to the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) headquarters in Abuja, where he was received by the forum’s board of trustees chairman, Bashir Dalhatu.

Speaking during the visit, Adebayo said the forum and its sister organizations, such as the Northern Elders Forum remained vital to Nigeria’s stability and must play a stronger role in national integration, especially as political institutions continue to falter.

“Northern Nigeria is the crown jewel of the Nigerian state. The journey to nationhood started in 1914, and there’s no excuse for pretending that there’s a U-turn anywhere. Nigeria is like a train; it has no reverse gear,” Adebayo said.

He lamented what he described as “episodic governance” in the country, where development plans are abandoned by successive governments, and said Nigeria’s leadership must return to national planning models that focus on unity, accountability, and service delivery.

“Even something as fundamental as Nigeria’s sovereignty is now up for debate. We don’t have a common basis for unity. The killings going on in the North are tragic, yet they fail to unite us in condemnation,” he added.

The SDP chieftain emphasized that national unity must transcend religion, ethnicity, and region, insisting that reforms should aim to make Nigeria work for all citizens regardless of background.

“Reforms are possible, but no reform can render me a non-Nigerian. We must understand that there is only one Nigeria, and the North is a critical component,” Adebayo said.

He also stressed the importance of preparing a new generation of patriotic Nigerians to take up leadership roles, promising that his party’s politics “will leave no one behind” and will prioritise accountability and service delivery.

In his response, ACF Chairman Bashir Dalhatu commended Adebayo’s patriotism and passion for national unity, describing him as one of the few politicians who think beyond regional lines.

“Nigeria needs people who think in a united manner. The ACF was established to protect the interests of the North within the context of a united Nigeria. We are first and foremost Nigerians before being Northerners,” Dalhatu said.

APP condemns alleged killing of two persons by lmo ENTRACO agents

Action People’s Party, APP, Imo State chapter, has condemned in strong terms the outrageous killing of two persons by murderous elements masquerading as officials of the lmo State Environmental Transformation commission, ENTRACO.

The alleged killings were discovered through a traumatizing video clip circulating on various social media platforms.

The party said it is deeply shocked and outraged by these recurring incidents of loss of lives of innocent Imo citizens occasioned by the alleged recklessness and unchecked activities of ENTRACO officials, which appear to have become a norm and pattern in the state.

According to the party, the latest incident which occurred at St. Mulumba by Akachi Road, near First Bank in Owerri, serves as a stark reminder of the All Progressives Congress, APC-led government’s reckless disregard for human life and the rule of law.

It also recalled with dismay the previous incident at Toronto Junction, MCC/Uratta Road, Owerri, where some persons lost their lives at the hands of the same ENTRACO staff.

In a statement issued on Monday by APP’s interim state Publicity Secretary, Cajetan Duke, the Party stated that it was appalling that despite promises of “Shared Prosperity,” the activities of these agents of government had become synonymous with sharing misery, agony, and even death in Imo State.

Part of the statement reads, “it is disheartening to note that a commission established to ensure environmental cleanliness and orderliness in line with the capital city master plan has turned itself into a vehicle for all forms of criminal extortion through intimidation and harassment of commercial road users and other vulnerable members of society.

“The people of Imo State are living in fear, and it is unacceptable that ENTRACO officials have become more notorious than armed bandits, unknown gunmen, and terrorists. We demand an immediate halt to these provocative and reckless killings of our people. The government must take responsibility for protecting its citizens and hold those responsible for these atrocities accountable.

“This entrenched culture of insensitivity, lack of empathy, high-handedness, impunity, and blatant disregard for human life, which has characterized the activities and operations of ENTRACO, questions the credibility and competence of the current leadership and management of the commission.

“We, therefore, call on Governor Uzodimma to immediately, in the best interest of Imo citizens in particular and road users in general, sack the current management of the commission for gross ineptitude, poor leadership, and lack of the prerequisite skills to manage an important people-oriented and service-driven agency of government like ENTRACO.

“The Action People’s Party (APP) stands in solidarity with the families of the victims and demands justice. We call on all well-meaning Imolites to join us in condemning these brutal killings and demanding accountability from the Uzodimma led administration in the state.”

The opposition party demanded a thorough investigation into the incidents and for those responsible to be brought to justice, adding that the people of Imo State deserve better than to live in fear of being killed by those sworn to protect them.

2027: APC youths defect to PDP

Hundreds of youths from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State have defected to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), blaming their decision on widespread hardship, unmet promises, and dissatisfaction with the present administration.

The mass defection occurred in Ilorin, the state capital, where youths from Ajikobi, Alanamu, and Ubandawaki Wards in Ilorin West Local Government formally declared their departure from the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Mallam Musa Kabir, the leader of the defectors from Ubandawaki Ward, explained that their move was prompted by years of neglect and frustration under the APC government.

He acknowledged that backing the “Otoge” movement in 2019 and 2023 had been a mistake, bringing “hardship and regret” instead of the anticipated progress.

Kabir criticized the Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq led administration for its lack of clear vision and failure to create opportunities for young people.

He also lamented that harsh government policies had led to the collapse of numerous small businesses and shops across Ilorin, resulting in widespread youth unemployment.

Welcoming the defectors on behalf of the PDP leadership, the party’s State Secretary, Comrade Abdulrahman Abdullahi Kayode also from Ubandawaki Ward commended the returnees for their bravery.

He described their move as a “bold step toward rebuilding responsible leadership in Kwara.”

Kayode observed that many youths who had labored during the Otoge struggle were neglected once the APC assumed power.

He praised Musa Kabir for uniting young people across wards and bridging divisions within the community.

The State Secretary assured the new members of complete inclusion in the PDP’s framework, pledging their involvement in decision making processes and equal access to party opportunities.

Speakers at the event included Wasiu Orekan, Alfa Adam Elelubo, Lookman Olarotimi Shehu Mukadam, Alhaja Shuaib Dupe Salamat, Alanamu Abubakar Jos, and veteran politician Alhaji Musa Tapa, also took turns to condemn what they called “widespread neglect” by the current government.

Alhaja Salamat, a former civil servant sacked after the Otoge victory, shared her experience, accusing the administration of abandoning loyal supporters.

Alhaji Musa Tapa, a long-time associate of the late Dr. Olusola Saraki, announced his return to the Saraki political family.

He urged young people to obtain their voter cards and “flush out bad governance” in the 2027 elections.

Ex-NNPP Ogun gov’orship candidate, Amb Ajadi defects to PDP

The 2023 governorship candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, in Ogun State, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has officially resigned from the party and joined the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Oguntoyinbo described his move to PDP as “a strategic and patriotic step toward rebuilding Nigeria’s unity and hope.”

The announcement came on Monday, during a press briefing where Ajadi formally presented copies of his resignation letter to journalists, signaling his official withdrawal from the NNPP and alignment with the PDP.

In the letter, which was formally addressed to the Ward Chairman, NNPP Chairman of Obafemi Owode Local Government, the Ogun State NNPP Chairman, the NNPP Southwest Chairman, and the National Chairman of the party, Ajadi stated that his decision came after deep reflection on Nigeria’s political direction and the need to work within a broader platform capable of driving genuine national transformation.

Ajadi said: “My decision to join the Peoples Democratic Party is both strategic and patriotic.

“I have great respect for the NNPP and what it stands for, but at this point in Nigeria’s history, I believe the PDP offers a wider and stronger platform for national reconciliation, youth empowerment, and true federalism.”

Ajadi, who was the NNPP governorship candidate in Ogun State during the 2023 general elections after stepping down as a presidential aspirant in solidarity with Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who later became the party’s presidential candidate, clarified that his exit from the NNPP was not borne out of animosity but guided by conviction and renewed purpose.

“There is no bad blood between me and my former party, I remain grateful for the opportunity to have served under its banner.

“However, as Nigeria continues to grapple with economic hardship, unemployment, and leadership challenges, it is time for like-minded patriots to close ranks and rebuild trust in governance,” he said.

Ajadi, while noting that Nigeria is at a crossroad, pointed out that the country need leaders who listen to the people.

“Nigeria is at a crossroads, we need leaders who can listen to the people and act selflessly. I am confident that my entry into the PDP will strengthen the party’s grassroots base and reawaken hope among ordinary Nigerians,” he said.

Party officials in South-west described Ajadi’s defection as a “boost to the PDP’s democratic family,” praising his record of integrity, youth mobilization, and social impact as assets that will enrich the party’s vision.

Reaffirming his commitment to national service, Ambassador Ajadi pledged to work closely with PDP leaders at all levels to promote transparency, peace-building, and inclusive governance.

“This is not just about party politics,” he reiterated. “It is about rekindling the faith of Nigerians in democracy and ensuring that our people begin to feel the real dividends of good governance.”

El-Rufai made the appeal while addressing a gathering of ADC supporters in Gusau on Sunday, noting that the party has plans to improve security, the economy, and food supply in Zamfara.

He urged party members to maintain unity and avoid sabotage, and encouraged collaboration with youths and women’s groups to promote awareness of ADC’s activities at the grassroots level. He also advised voters to prepare their Permanent Voter’s Cards, PVCs, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The ADC’s Deputy National Organising Secretary, Abubakar Atiku, said the visit of El-Rufai would strengthen the party’s efforts to maintain stability and cooperation among its members in the state.

State ADC Chairman, Alhaji Kabiru Garba, added that participants at the event included youths and women from all 14 local government areas of Zamfara, emphasizing that the party continues to grow and attract new members.

Tinubu rebuilding Nigeria, opposition dragging country backwards – APC

Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Saturday, said President Bola Tinubu is rebuilding Nigeria while the opposition is dragging the country in the mud to remain relevant.

It made the remark while commending Tinubu for his remark at the Federal Executive Council, FEC, that “Nigeria is rising, and no amount of opposition bitterness can change it.”

In a statement by its spokesman, Seye Oladejo, the state arm of the party said: “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s emphatic address to the Federal Executive Council – a masterclass in clarity, confidence, and leadership grounded in verifiable results, not emotional blackmail or political hysteria.

“While opposition figures are busy dragging Nigeria’s image through mud to remain relevant, President Tinubu continues to rebuild the nation brick by brick, fact by fact, reform by reform.”

Oladejo described Tinubu as the president for the season, stressing that he is prepared, courageous, and focused.

He said: “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is unmistakably the President for this season, prepared, courageous, focused and divinely aligned with the demands of this moment in our national history. Nigeria is blessed to have him at a time like this.

“Where others panic, he strategises. Where others shout, he delivers. Where others sow fear, he inspires confidence.”

Oladejo accused the opposition of lying about statistics but facts don’t.

“The oversubscribed $2.35 billion Eurobond (over 400% subscription) is not a political claim; it is the world voting with its money. Investors are not sentimental – they are convinced Nigeria is back on a growth path.

“Additional hard facts: 4.23% GDP growth – best in a decade, 13 high-growth sectors, Industrial growth almost doubled, Inflation down to 18.02%, FX reserves above $43 billion, ₦7.4 trillion trade surplus, Exit from FATF Grey List.

“These are the fruits of courageous reforms, not propaganda.”

PDP crisis: Parallel BoT illegal – Emmanuel Ogidi

The National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, (South-South), Emmanuel Ogidi, says the emergence of a parallel Board of Trustees, BoT, within the party is illegal, describing it as an act of the minority having their say.

Ogidi made this statement on Friday while responding to questions in an interview on ‘Prime Time’, a programme on Arise Television

According to him, the development had no constitutional basis and would not stand.

“It is easy for democracy — the minority will have their say. By our constitution, the BoT is clearly defined.

“What some people have done is not recognised by the party; they are not the BoT. They can say what they like, but they remain the minority,” he said.

The PDP stalwart further stated that those who engineered the purported BoT meeting were only seeking attention.

Ogidi clarified that their actions do not have effect on the legitimacy or operations of the party.

PDP crisis: Devil using some members – Damagum

The acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Umar Damagum, has disclosed that the devil is using members of the party to cause crisis.

Damagum disclosed this when he met with PDP state chairmen in Abuja, led by their forum chairman, Tony Aziegbemi (Edo) and forum secretary, Edward Masha (Kaduna).

The state chairmen had visited Damagum to pledge their loyalty to him.

Speaking, Damagum reminded those causing trouble in the PDP that there is karma.

He said: “I also want to use this opportunity to call on our colleagues that the devil is using, to see wisdom in casting the devil in them because treachery, especially to an institution that has made you what you are today, will not heal. You may be lucky now, but there is a law of Karma.

“What goes around comes around. I think it is not late to see the need to do justice to this party that has given you all.

“Sometimes, when I resort to the ways of God, people think it is weakness. We exist because God exists.

We owe everything that we do to him. He is watching us. He will judge us by our behavior. I will leave this on this note. They say a word is enough for us.”
