The Nigeria Immigration Service has commenced a test-run of passport reminder system for applicants of the travel document.

It said the system would communicate payment and other process status to the applicant in the form of feedback.

A statement by the NIS spokesman, Sunday James, in Abuja on Monday said the Comptroller-General of Immigration, Muhammad Babandede, disclosed this during a virtual meeting with all passport officers and state command comptrollers nationwide.

Speaking during the meeting which was also attended by the eight Zonal Coordinators, Babandede directed that no extra charges were allowed apart from the approved fees.

He ordered the passport officers to establish a front desk in their offices for receipt of applications.

The statement read, “The CGI also emphasised that automatic passport reminder system is being test run at the service headquarters where payment and other process status are being communicated to the applicant in the form of feedback and the same should be implemented by all the passport officers.”
