The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has paid the police the N30 million bounty he placed on Rivers State’s most-wanted criminal, Bobisky.
Bobisky had been terrorizing the state with several cases of high-profile kidnapping, murder, armed robbery among others. Governor Wike announced a #30 million reward for any individual who can provide information that can lead to his arrest. Bobisky was finally arrested by the police and he died in police custody several hours after the parade.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr Tammy Danagogo, presented the N30million cheque to Police Commissioner, Joseph Mukan, on behalf of Governor Wike in Port Harcourt on Thursday, September 17.
According to Dr Danagogo, Governor Wike’s administration will continue working to ensure the safety of the lives and properties of Rivers State residents.
He said: “Governor Wike will continue to stand by his words, as this is not the first time such redemption is occurring in the state. If we can recall when the governor made a promise over Don Wani, a criminal who disturbed the peace of ONELGA, all security agencies and citizenry were activated to capture him, and the pledge was also redeemed.”
The SSG added: “I thank the police officers for the gallantry in arresting the criminals and I also thank the informants who cannot be mentioned here.”
CP Mukan thanked the Governor for fulfilling his pledge. According to him, the police had sleepless nights and exhibited a high level of professionalism throughout the operation that led to Bobisky’s arrest.
