Newest sensation in Abia state politics and aspirant bubbling to represent Isuikwuato/Umunneochi at the Federal House of Representatives, Dr Onyinye Kay Rufus-OBI has encouraged the people of Isuikwuato on the need to take the ongoing Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Voters registration exercise seriously even as she embarks on mass sensitization programme on why the people should take back power which belongs to them by exercising their voting rights through the ballot.

Dr Onyinye while addressing a large crowd that gathered to see their adorable aspirant highlighted the need and gains of being part of the INEC voters registration exercise even as she noted that Isuikwuato with such a huge population could not afford to continue to be marginalized in the scheme of things.

The sensitization exercise which kicked off in Umuokogbuo-Eluama community on the 30th of January, 2022 is extending to other communities in the Local Government Area.

Dr Onyinye Rufus-OBI noted that the sensitization exercise became necessary to educate her people especially those who recently became of age and are eligible to vote in the coming general elections on why and how they should exercise their franchise to decide who leads them in the forthcoming elections.

According to the aspirant who is also founder, Onyinye Rufus-OBI Omekannaya Foundation, participating in the INEC ongoing voters registration exercise is the only way one can add his or her voice during the general elections and also decide who leads, adding, “your voters card is your vehicle to choosing your next leader.”

She condemned the nonchalant attitude of the people in the south east especially in Abia State and in Isuikwuato towards the continuous voters registration exercise.

Dr Onyinye Kay Rufus-OBI enjoined various political parties, groups, religious leaders, traditional leaders, market leaders, and human rights activists to mobilize and keep educating the people on the need to participate in the ongoing INEC voters registration exercise.

She maintained that politics is a game of numbers even as the race for the 2023 general elections has started in earnest.

Without mincing words she declared, “It is imperative to note that for us (Isuikwuato) to actualize the much needed result, we must influence every adult that’s eligible to vote in the local government area to partake, obtain and secure their voter’s card as a weapon to put in place good governance and remove bad leadership in the state, local government and the constituency.”
