Soludo appoints Ogochukwu Ekwueme as Transition Chairman of Orumba North

Anambra State House of Assembly yesterday confirmed the appointment of the son of the late former Vice President of Nigeria, Dr. Alex Ekwueme, Engr. Ogochukwu Ekwueme as the Transition Chairman of the Orumba North Local Government Area of the state alongside 20 others appointed by Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo recently.

Other Transition Chairmen confirmed at the Plenary by the Anambra State House of Assembly for the remaining 20 Local Government Area: Aguata – Prince Chibuike Ofobuike, Anambra East – Dr. Anselem Onuorah, Anambra West – Mr. Felix Ikechi, Anaocha – Mr. Gerald Ikechukwu Ozo, Awka North – Mr. Emmanuel Ucheze, Awka South – Mr. Thankgod Aniago, Ayamelum – Hon. Livinus Onyenwe, Dunukofia – Mr. Augustine Onyemaobi Nonyelum, Ekwusigo – Mr. James Chimezie Obi, Idemili North – Mr. Chucks Brown Igboanua and Idemili South – Mrs. Immaculata Amaka Obi.

Others are: Ihiala – Mr. Kingsley Obi, Njikoka- Mr. Clems Aguiyi, Nnewi North – Mr. Mbazuluike Iloka, Nnewi South – Mr. Ikenna Oluchukwu Aniagbaoso, Onitsha North – Mr. Charles Ozoma, Onitsha South – Mr. Emeka Orji, Orumba South – Mr. Sunday Uchendu, Oyi – Mr. Emmanuel Nweke and Ogbaru – Mr. Paschal Chidiebere Aniegbuna.

Arising from the Electoral College formed by the members of the House during their plenary session on Friday, the state legislature affirmed the constitution of the Transition Committee members of the twenty one Local Government Councils in Anambra State.

At the plenary, the Electoral College considered in earnest and confirmed the nominees of Mr. Governor as Chairmen and members of the Transition Committees of the 21 Local Government Councils in Anambra State for a period of three months, as provided for in the Local Government Law of Anambra State, 1999 (as amended).

While confirming the Chairmen and those to work with them as Councillors of various political wards in the state, the members of the State House of Assembly charged them to keep to the true tenets of public service rendition and ensure that they work in consonance with the transformation agenda of Mr Governor geared towards making Anambra a more liveable and prosperous homeland.

Engr. Ekwueme, the new Orumba North Local Government Area boss attended the University Primary School, Enugu between 1983 and 1988, Kings College, Lagos between 1989 and 1994, Bellerbys College between 1995 and 1996, Kings College, London between 1996 and 1999 as well as the University of Warwick – Warwick Business School between 2019 and 2021 2 where he obtained his MBA.

Ogochukwu Ekwueme served as Junior Engineer with the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Abuja during his one year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme between June 2002 and June 2003 where he worked closely with senior engineers in assigning and managing band width to telecoms companies. He was actively involved in the supervision of the Nigerian Telecoms industry.

He thereafter served as Manager (Sales and New Product Development) where he oversaw the electrification of the company by NEPA and was responsible for the sourcing and installation of new machineries required to boost production. During that time, they were able to boost the corporate outlook of the company by partnering with various Higher Institutions of learning in the South East, and various professional bodies in the construction industry.

He later on served as the Executive Director at Robertson Nigeria Limited where he was responsible for the day to day running of the company, overseeing five managers and ensuring that all company policies were being effected in the various departments.

Between August 2015 and March 17, 2022, the new Mayor of Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra served as the Special Assistant to the immediate past Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano on Public Utilities where he was responsible for the supervision and monitoring of projects.
