Men arraigned over alleged N9m fraud in Lagos

Two men, Atofarati Olukunle, 50, and Ojetola Femi, 45, have been arraigned before the Samuel Ilori Magistrate’s Court, sitting in Ogba, Lagos for allegedly obtaining properties worth N9.75m under false pretense.

The defendants were facing three counts bordering on conspiracy, obtaining property under false pretense, and theft.

The duo were alleged to have fraudulently obtained the sum of N9,750,000 from Nuhu Oseni under the pretense to rear, process and supply him with 5,000 poultry birds.

The charge read in part, “That you, Atofarati Olukunle and Ojetola Femi on or before April 7, 2022, at Ahmadiya-Lagos, in the Ikeja Magisterial District did fraudulently obtain the sum of N9,750,000 from one Nuhu Oseni under the pretense that you will rear, process, and supply him with 5,000 Poultry Birds, a representation you know to be false

“That you, Atofarati Olukunle, and Ojetola Femi on the same date, time, and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District did steal the sum of N9, 750,000.00, property of one Nuhu Oseni  by converting same to your own use.”

The prosecution said the offenses were punishable under Sections 411, 314, and 287 of the Criminal Law of the Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.

However, the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N1m with two sureties in like sum. The matter was adjourned till October 20, 2022, for Mention.
