Gunmen kill soldiers, others in Anambra, Soludo fumes

GunmenSome unidentified assailants attacked a security patrol near Nkwo Market, Umunze in Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State on Wednesday, killing some soldiers.

It was gathered that the soldiers were patrolling in a Sienna vehicle around the area when they were attacked by the hoodlums, sending residents of the area into a panic.

During the attack that occurred close to a new generation bank in the area, some civilians were also said to have been killed by stray bullets.

This is as the governor of the state, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, condemned the killings, vowing to do everything to ensure that the perpetrators are arrested and prosecuted.

Although no official casualty figure has been given by relevant authorities, eyewitnesses disclosed to journalists that about five soldiers and two civilians were killed in the incident.
