Bandits kill soldier, injured three others in Kaduna village

Bandits on Tuesday evening shot dead a soldier while three others sustained gunshot injuries during exchange of gunfire in Akoti village near Kagarko town in Kaduna State.

A resident of the community, Musa Arungo, who confirmed the incident to DAILY POST, said a civilian was also injured during the battle with the bandits.

According to him, the incident happened on Tuesday evening.

He disclosed that the bandits rustled over 80 cows and were passing through Akpoti village when soldiers were alerted.

“Unfortunately, the bandits killed a soldier, wounded three in the process.

“One of the villagers was hit by a stray bullet from the bandits and he is currently receiving treatment at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH) in Gwagwalada,” he said

The Madaki of Janjala, Samaila Babangida, also confirmed the incident, adding that “from the information I received this morning, the soldiers came from Kaduna to evacuate the three injured soldiers and the corpse of the one killed.”

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mohammed Jalige did not respond to calls and text messages sent to him.
