The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Health District III, Dr Monsurat Adeleke, stated this during an enlightenment session on the health benefits of the COVID-19 vaccine and the flag-off ceremony of the administration of COVID-19 vaccines for residents of Epe and environs on Monday.

Supported by the Chairperson of Epe Local Government, Princess Surah Animashaun, the ceremony was part of the sensitisation and enlightenment programmes of Lagos Health District III and efforts by the council chairperson in promoting community health.

While correcting the notion among the citizens that the war against COVID-19 was over, Adeleke disclosed that there is an increasing new wave of the pandemic, hence the need for the populace to be alerted.

She stressed that getting vaccinated is not just a personal choice, but a civic responsibility meant to protect oneself, neighbours, and most especially the elderly, immunocompromised, and young children, adding, “It is an act of solidarity and empathy.”

“The COVID-19 vaccine is our best chance at ending this pandemic. I implore you to make an informed decision, consult with healthcare professionals, and consider the well-being of our communities. Let us unite to conquer COVID-19 and build a safer, healthier future for all,” Adeleke further stated.
