Kwara court jails 21-year-old man for theft

A 21-year-old-year-old man, Saliu Abdullahi, has been sentenced to one year and three months in jail for theft.

The convict was arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kaiama Division, Kwara State Command.

He was arrested at Luman, Agbara Local government, Niger state, based on an allegation of Housebreaking and theft by Baba Umar of Pissio extension area, Kaiama.

After the arrest, the suspect, in his statement, confessed that he committed the allegations made against him.

“Some items recovered from him included stabilizer, radio, and clothes,” according to a statement by the Kwara state spokesman of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, Ayeni Olasunkanmi in Ilorin on Wednesday.

He said the suspect was prosecuted at Grade 1 Area Court before trial judge, Adamu Lukman.

The suspect was given three months imprisonment without any option of a fine for trespass and one-year imprisonment without any option of a fine for theft.

He will be serving the jail terms at the Nigerian Correctional Centre, New Bussa.

The Kwara State Commandant of the civil defense corps, Umar J.G Mohammed, appealed to the public, especially the young ones who are into housebreaking and other social vices to desist from their criminal activities.
