Stakeholders of Ezzagu community, in the Ishielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, have said that the community was the major beneficiary of the re-awarded 35km road, in the area.

This is even as the stakeholders’ affirmed that the area was one of the numerous communities in the state that had benefited some basic social amenities, under the Governor David Umahi-led government.

The stakeholders stated this in a document signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on House of Assembly Matters, Julius Nwokpor; Commissioner of Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission, Hans Offia; Caretaker Committee Chairman of Ishielu Local Government Area, Mr Ebenyi Afamefuna; and the Coordinator of Inyaba Development Centre, Mrs Nweze Blessing, which was made available to journalists by the Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Uchenna Orji, on Wednesday.

The document read in part, “The attention of the major stakeholders of Ezzagu Community in Ishielu LGA has been drawn to a publication credited to Rev. Fr Malachy Nkannebe, and published in Punch Newspaper of 20th July 2020, over the situation of Ezzagu in Inyaba Development Centre of Ishielu Local Government Area.

“While we do not have any intention to join issues with the respected Rev. Fr Malachy Nkannebe, who by virtue of his position as a clergy is expected to be a voice of Truth in the locality, we make bold to categorically state as follows;

“That Ezzagu Community in Ezzagu zone in Inyaba Development centre, of Ishielu LGA; is one of the numerous communities in Ebonyi state that have enjoyed some of the social amenities in the state under the able leadership of Engr. Chief David Nweze Umahi, FNSE, FNATE.

“That it is not true that Ezzagu has no health centre, as we can categorically state that it has a health centre at Aguotu, and another at Onunweke Ojiegbe, apart from other health posts like the one located at St James, opposite CSS Ezzagu.

“With the emergence of His Excellency, Engr. David Umahi, as Governor, the Agba  Eguho  Ezzagu Bridge at Ebonyi River was initiated, constructed, and now completed.

“It is also on record that the Engr Umahis Administration embarked on the construction of 35km Ntezi  Agba  Isu Road, and Ezzagu is the major beneficiary as it is remaining about 3km to hit the General Hospital Junction.”

It added, “It is also on record that in Ezzagu zone, the present administration constructed new classroom blocks including Premiere Secondary school, CSS Ezzagu, Azuinyaba Community Secondary school, Aguho CSS, and Onunweke Community Secondary School.

“In the area of basic Education, Ezzagu has over thirty (30) primary schools with at least one new building in each school, from this present Administration.

“We wish to affirm, that the Administration of Engr. David Umahi which has been nationally recognised for his outstanding performance in Infrastructure and Human Empowerment has paid adequate attention to the welfare of Ezzagu people who stand as major beneficiaries of his good governance. This is in addition o numerous empowerment programmes and appointments into public offices which the community is enjoying.

“The recent World Bank Maternity index per states shows that Ebonyi State is above average courtesy of the efforts of the Governor in establishing primary, secondary and tertiary health care facilities in the state.”
